The Once Upon a Time Season One Finale left us with some huge questions to impatiently ponder, but lucky for us Season Two picks up exactly where the finale left off, with the purple smoke rolling through Storybrooke and the Queen’s curse broken restoring magic and memories to the townsfolk! Now that everyone remembers who they were in Fairy Tale Land, not to mention what Regina/The Evil Queen did to them, we have been extremely curious to see what direction the show will take next. If you have been wondering all summer about the fate of Storybrooke as well and are ready for some answers before the show premieres at the end of the month, read on for Once Upon a Time Season Two Spoilers and Speculations!

Seeing has definitely meant believing for Emma Swan/Charming. Now that she knows her son, Henry, has been right all along she is going to have to deal with what that means for her and her family. Finding out your roommate/new best friend is actually your mom and her married boyfriend is you dad would be confusing enough, but add in the fact that said mother and father stuck you in a magical tree as an infant and transported you from Fairy Tale Land to the “real” world and things get even more complicated. Poor Emma is going to have a lot to deal with in season two, but it looks like her main priority is going to be protecting Henry from Regina now that she knows Regina is an actual evil with, and not just a metaphorical, and Regina from the citizens of Storybrooke ! (source 1 & 2)
Emma may have a hard time doing that though, since it is being widely reported that by episode two she and Mary Margaret/Snow will be trapped in the magical world in a “Lost” style scenario. Sounds like they will have plenty of time to work out their awkward family issues while they figure out how to get back to Storybrooke! (source 1 & 3)

What does that mean for Mary Margaret/Snow and Charming? Jennifer Goodwin has been quoted as saying their relationship ”will be ‘titillating,’ and ‘satisfying, and frustrating,’ for ‘totally different reasons’ than last season,” so my guess is we will get to see some great moments between them in the premiere, only for the new obstacle of her being stuck in the magical world to add the “frustrating” element to their relationship. At least they remember eachother now and I can’t imagine the show would keep characters as crucial as Mary Margaret/Snow and Emma separated from the rest for too long. (source 4)
Emma will also be having a bit of romance in season two, although the lucky guy remains a secret. The idea that we may get to seem more of The Huntsman has been teased by Jennifer Morrison, as well as the fact that we could end up seeing August Booth/Pinocchio in Storybrooke again too! Now that there is magic in Storybrooke and the spell is broken, I would not be surprised if either character came back to sweep Emma off her feet. Jefferson/The Mad Hatter will be back at the beginning of the season so he could be a potential love interest, but it does not seem likely if Emma and Margaret/Snow will be trapped by episode two. My best guess is that Emma will be reconnecting with Henry’s father since it has been confirmed that we will find out who he is in season two. I for one am extremely excited about the reveal. The producers have said they knew who Henry’s father would be from day one, so I will be curious to go back and see if any hints were revealed along the way once we know who he is! I will not even begin to guess at who it may be, but popular opinion is that the father will turn out to be Rumpelstiltskin’s long lost son Bae. Although the adult Bae has not been named as a new character, Michael Raymond-James (True Blood, Terriers) has been accounced as joining the cast to play a mysterious new character. How about the rest of the characters in Storybrooke? We know from the Season two Promo that Regina/The Evil Queen will be without her powers when the angry citizens of Storybrooke come to confront her, but I don’t think she will remain powerless for too long unless they plan on making her story line this season all about trying to regain her powers. We do know she’ll be seeing more of Daniel, her dearly departed true love. What we don’t know is if it will be in more flashbacks or if the magic in Storybrooke and the broken curse will somehow bring him back from the dead. (source 4)

Another long debated mystery that will be solved in season two is the fairy tale identity of Dr. Whale. David Anders has revealed that he was told who his character was when he signed on for the show, so when I re-watch from the beginning I will be keeping my eye out for clues I missed about him also!
I may have missed some clues, but loyal fans have taken to the internet to document every piece of evidence they have found and the popular conclusion is that Dr. Whale is really Dr. Frankenstein. Before you yell that Frankenstein is not a fairy tale at your screen, keep in mind the show has taken a rather loose interpretation of the word and seems to be going more for a literary character theme than strictly fairy tale. There are many many reasons why fans have come to this conclusion, so if you want a detailed explanation you can find one here. (source 8 & 9)
We will not have to wait too long to find out the truth about Dr. Whale though, because it looks like we will get our answer one way or the other by the fifth episode of the second season! (source 8 & 9)

Emilie de Ravin (Image Credit: Gage Skidmore)
Good news for Eli Gold/Rumplestiltskin and Belle fans! Emilie de Ravin has been brought on as a full time cast member, so she will have plenty of on screen time for onscreen love with Eli Gold/Rumplestiltskin. They will even a big kiss in the season premiere! But who knows where it will go now that Eli Gold/Rumplestiltskin will have to choose between power and love once again. Let’s hope now that he knows Belle is alive and her love is true he chooses better than last time. Even if her does, his search for his long lost son, Bae (more about him below!), which may have been reignited by August Booth/Pinocchio’s fraud, will probably get in the way of any long term happiness for the pair. (source 4 & 10)

Meghan Ory (Image Credit: Gage Skidmore)
Meghan Ory, who plays Ruby/Red Riding Hood has also been brought on as series regulars for season two. Now that magic the back, what will happen when it comes time for her to turn into a wolf? Without granny to keep her indoors, could they wind up with a wolf loose in Storybrooke? Perhaps one of the many new characters coming to Storybrooke will help keey Ruby/Red Riding Hood in line. (source 10)
One of the new characters coming to Storybrooke is the infamous Captain Hook, played by Colin O’Donoghue. He will be joing the show in episode four of the new season and is described as a “never-back-down pirate that will not stop until his enemies are defeated.” Who those enemies will be is still unknown, but the season two promo shows him breaking into the pawn shop of Eli Gold/Rumplestiltskinpawn and reclaiming his hook, so my guess is that he will have a bone to pick with him, if not Regina/The Evil Queen as well. (source 1 & 10)

Sarah Bolger (Image Credit: Flickr User GabboT)
Season two will also be revisiting the Sleeping Beauty storyline touched upon with the introduction of Maleficient (played by Kristin Bauer van Straten of True Blood) in season one, who may not be dead despite what we have already seen! Actress Sarah Bolger (Game of Thrones) will be joing the show as the sleeping beauty, Princess Aurora, who has been described as “could be mistaken for a spoiled rich girl.” Beyond that, little is known about her character except that she will most likely need saving by her true love, the Prince Philip played by actor Julian Morris (Pretty Little Liars). Prince Phillip has been described as handsome, heroic, and a man who “has been on many long, hard journeys, and is a warrior from a kingdom that is no longer as well off as it once was.” (source 10 & 11)

Jamie Chung (Image Credit: David Shankbone)
Prince Phillip will not be going on the journey to save Princess Aurora alone. He will be joined by Mulan, played by Jamie Chung (The Hangover 2), who will be a recurring character in the second season. It sounds like on the journey to find his true love, Prince Phillip might just find a new love in Mulan, but like everything else we will have to wait and see. Mulan’s character has been described as “having a “spirituality that enhances her tactical and strategic abilities.” (source 4 & 10)
Storybrooke will also be getting its very own knight! Sir Lancelot, played by Sinqua Walls (Teen Wolf), will be joining the show in season two. Just like with all of the fairy tale characters in Once Upon a Time, his character will be a bit than you might expect. Instead of the honorable knight of the Arthur legends, Lancelot will be a sword for hire that was banished from the round table by King Arthur. No word on why he was banished, but his character has been describes as “dangerous” and having “nothing to lose.” (source 1, 10, & 12 )

Jorge Garcia (Image Credit: Gage Skidmore)
Last but not least, Jorge Garcia (Lost) will also be joining the cast in season two to play The Giant from the story of Jack and the beanstalk. No word yet on who will be playing Jack, but his character will be an amalgamation of all the “Jacks” of fairy tales and has been described as “damaged, sexy, charismatic and mysterious.” He will be “from a dangerous land” and will be “running from his past.” (source 1, 10, 13 & 14)
You may be tired of hearing about Bae by now, but the theory that Jack will turn out to be Bae is the most believable theory I have heard about Rumpelstiltskin’s son yet. Back in season one, Bae planted that magical bean to take him and his father to a world without magic. I would not be surprised if it all ties in and Jack winds up being played by Michael Raymond-James, is actually Bae, and also Henry’s father! (source 1, 10, 13 & 14)
Two last tidbits to spark you interest before the premiere of Once Upon a Time on September 30th! Besides Jack, other knew characters being introduced in season two whose casting has not been revealed include Ariel, Aladdin, and Jafar! And my favorite spoiler of all, it has been confirmed that Emma’s Volkswagen bug is actually Herbie the Love Bug! (source 10)
