The cast of True Blood is growing for season six, adding several new recurring and featured actors. Among them is the lovely Amelia Rose Blaire, whom you may recognize from one of her prominent guest spots (on shows like 90201 and Grimm) and will definitely recognize from the latest True Blood trailer (staring longingly out the window at a levitating Eric Northman). Amelia has one of those fresh faces that's instantly identifiable (I remembered her from Touch the minute she appeared in the True Blood trailer) and brings an energy to the screen that may provide some new "life" to the show in its sixth season (no pun intended, although she will be playing one of the few humans left on the series). The Daily Quirk recently had the opportunity to chat with Amelia Rose Blaire about all things acting, True Blood, and the films she has on the horizon. Read on for the interview...

The Daily Quirk: When did you first know you wanted to become an actress?

Amelia Rose Blaire: When I was in middle school, I did a production of Bye, Bye, Birdie and I had a little part playing a gum-chewing tap dancer and the second I stepped on stage, I felt totally free.  That was it.

TDQ: When you’re not busy working on a project, how do you like to spend your time?

ARB: I like cooking with friends and making crafts.  Basically, being a nerd at home.

TDQ: If we looked at your iPod right now, what songs would we find listened to most recently?

ARB: I’ve had the song from the new True Blood trailer, “Bottom of the river” by Delta Rae stuck in my head for weeks.

TDQ: You’ve done both traditional dramas (90201, Royal Pains) to crime procedurals (The Glades, Perception) and shows with a more supernatural element (Grimm, True Blood). Is there one genre that appeals to your more than another?

ARB: There is definitely something very special about playing a character that lives in a supernatural world. But I’ve been very fortunate that all the characters I’ve played, no matter what the genre, have been very different from each other.  That’s what appeals to me the most.

TDQ: Are any of those genres more difficult or more fun to film?

ARB: For me it’s more about the character than the genre.  If it’s an interesting character it doesn’t matter what genre she’s living in.

TDQ: When I saw the latest preview for True Blood, I recognized you right away from my favorite episode of Touch where you had that wonderful southern accent. That and your latest role in the sixth season of True Blood made me curious, is the accent real?

ARB: Oh, cool!  No, the accent is not real but it’s definitely one of my favorites.

TDQ: Speaking of True Blood, were you a fan of the show before the role or was the world of Bon Temps fairly new to you?

ARB: I’ve been a fan of the show since the beginning.  When I went to my first table read, I had the goofiest smile plastered on the face.  It was very surreal.

TDQ: You play Willa, the daughter of Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell (Arliss Howard) who has a very different view of how vampires should be treated than her father. What attracted you to the role of Willa?

ARB: When I first auditioned, I really didn’t know much about Willa.  It was all very hush-hush.  But once I got cast and started to get to know her, I was very attracted to what was boiling beneath the surface. To me, Willa is motivated by love and because of that she’s very conflicted.

TDQ: How has your experience been working on True Blood so far?

ARB: Awesome!! It has been unlike anything I’ve every experienced.  Everyday on set, I learn something new.

TDQ: From the previews that have been released, we see your character is going to have some interesting interaction with vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgaard). Can you tell us a little bit about what it’s been like working with him?

ARB: Eric has always been one of my favorite characters, so honestly, it was a little intimidating at first.  I’ve learned a lot from watching him work.

TDQ: If you had to sum up the new season of True Blood in five words or less, what would they be?

ARB: Revamped!

TDQ: You also have a feature film coming out this year, Jesus in Cowboy Boots. Can you tell readers a little bit about the film?

ARB: Jesus in Cowboy Boots is a really fun movie I filmed last summer with AJ Michalka, Alicia Silverstone and Billy Burke.  It’s about a girl who uses her imagination to escape the mundane and oppressive world she’s grown up in.

I played AJ Michalka’s best friend Loretta, a sassy piece of trailer trash who thinks the world revolves around her and who she’s just kissed.  I got to wear florescent eye shadow and a blond weave – it was awesome.

TDQ: What made you want to get involved with the project?

ARB: Loretta was unlike any character I’ve ever played and I was really excited to live in the world William Carey (the director/writer) had created.

TDQ: Do you have any other upcoming projects you would like to share with our readers?

ARB: Commencement, an indie feature, is in the festival circuit right now.  It was a very personal project and I’m excited that audiences are getting a chance to see it.
