This past weekend the creators and executive producers of Once Upon a Time, along with one of the show’s stars, Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan), shared details and answered questions about the upcoming season of the show. They also gave some fun details about the highly anticipated spin-off, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and where the two shows will overlap! Read on to get all the details…
Alice and Aladdin are a natural storylines to mash-up according to the head-honchos. Wonderland is about following the innately curious Alice down a rabbit hole. Once in there, the familiar story of her in Wonderland takes a twist. Alice’s world is tangled with the story of Aladdin, with the features landing on the genie and Jafar. They said someone as curious as her, drawn to adventures would be drawn to someone who has spent lifetimes seeing what people really wish for.
The flashbacks in Wonderland have a point. The panelists have said definitively there will be more on Alice’s life in Victorian England. The flashbacks will eventually cumulate to explaining what led Alice to the asylum she’s in.
Robin Hood will be appearing to both shows. It is important to note that both Once Upon and Time and Wonderland will be showing at the same time. Overlap in characters is not only exciting, but a reason for watching both!
The actor Robert Carlyle, everyone’s favorite Mr. Gold (aka Rumplestiltskin) will be back. He promised he’d die before letting something happen to Henry. This season he will continue to make good on that promise.
“The Red Queen had to learn it somewhere,” one of the panelists said hintingly. The Red Queen and The Queen of Hearts will have intertwining plot lines. One things the team does right, is giving lots of building details.
Almost everyone gets a backstory! After almost every new detail someone mentioned a backstory. Alice gets a backstory. Wonderland, the world, gets a backstory. The White Rabbit even gets more plot development. Why is Prince Charming so charming? I don’t know yet, but we have been promised answers. So if you’re introduced to a favorite, don’t fret. You will probably hear more at some point.
Storybrooke, Maine will be back! For fans of the original set for the show, rest assured, it will be back. In season two of Once Upon a Time certain characters disappeared through a portal. In this season’s episode 7, it will be revealed what happened when the ship went through.
Thursday, October 17th, will bring the premiere of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.
