When I was kid, I wanted to change my name to Istanbul after hearing a They Might Be Giants song on Tiny Toons. I think that pretty much sums up my existence, but I’ll share a bit more. I love zoos to an irrational degree (I once continued to walk around the National Zoo for hours even though my shoes were making my feet bleed), red balloons, the translucent kind not the opaque ones, important difference, and popcorn & rasinettes (that “&” denotes together… like at the same time… in my mouth).

For the most part, this blog rules my life. I live on the gorgeous emerald coast of Florida with my fiance (who is just about the most supportive person to ever exist) and my mini dachshund, Bailey (who pretty much runs my house, mostly because he seems to have a death wish and we constantly have to “Bailey-proof” everything and everywhere just to keep him alive).

I’m an Iowa girl but never set foot on a farm until I met my fiance. I am a graduate of the University of Iowa and an avid supporter of the Hawkeye gymnastics team. I’m not, however, an avid supporter of winter, so I recently packed up my fiance and our adorable rescue Maltipoo, Howie, and moved to Texas. The jury is still out on whether I’ll ever start saying “y’all.” I have no desire to ever have children and I dislike it when people say “Oh, you’ll change your mind!” Howie is enough for me!

I enjoy reading, shopping, baking, and watching too much TV. I like proper grammar and punctuation. I question my hair color daily. I used to hate running until I realized I could watch TV on the treadmills at the gym. I became a published poet at age 8. My hand-eye coordination is superb thanks to years and years of baton twirling. I follow pop culture a little too closely, and I have never stopped loving the Backstreet Boys since I first discovered them in 1996.

As a child, I was convinced that my future involved owning a horse ranch. But now that I’m a 21-year-old Ohio University student with debt up to my ears, I’ve decided that I need to be a little more realistic. So writing it is.

When I’m not working in a gas station or burying my nose in a good book, I can be found watching an episode of Supernatural. (Good looking, demon-hunting boys with a severe case of misfortune seem to be my thing.) I can’t eat chicken salad unless it’s on a croissant, I love silver Sharpies, and the best friend I’ve ever had is my one-eyed dog named Porky. But my quirkiest trait would have to be my fear of frogs. Even thinking about one of those little, croaking monsters gives me the goosebumps.

I am a 31-year-old cinephilic foodie with a bad case of literary hyper-creativity.  I’ve been known to stay up for hours jotting notes due to the plethora of ideas running through my head for screenplays, blog postings, nicknames, etc.  Quoting silly movies in moments of seriousness is my coping mechanism (e.g. “It’s like an orange on a toothpick.  It has it’s own weather system.”).  LOLCatz makes me giggle and I show signs of being a cat whisperer.

As a child I was considered the human TV Guide.  When planning travel I’ve been known to cyber stalk locals to find out what’s cool in their locale so I don’t look like an American dolt when I arrive.  I’m a purse whore – I currently have 12 dust-bagged purses in my closet.  Two things scare me in this world: spiders and the alien abduction segments of Unsolved Mysteries [insert creepy music here].

Being brought up in an Anglo-French family living in the UK (my father is British, my mother is French) meant that I got a lovely mixture of culture and traditions whilst growing up. The thing that people have always found the most interesting is the fact that we effectively get two Christmases – a fancy roast dinner on Christmas Eve, and another celebration with presents and party food on Christmas day! Personally, I love that I have two sides to me. Firstly I have my English side with a love of cakes, adorable little cafés and tea rooms, English Literature, choral singing, and all things floral. Then secondly there is my French side which brings with it my huge passion for good food, particularly pastry, style, and animated discussions.

When I am not in my kitchen either baking or cooking up healthy meals, I can be found curled up with a book, writing for my blog, working out in the gym, cycling through the countryside, in a café with my closest friends drinking caramel lattes, or spending time with my wonderful boyfriend. I am currently studying English literature at university, living with my lovely family and ditzy cat, Poppy.

I’m a 22 year old Belgian (you know, that small & rainy country with delicious chocolate) girl who’s currently studying journalism in Antwerp. I hold a bachelor degree in English and a master degree in Theater and Film studies so you could say I’m a cultural oriented kind of gal. My main interests (or in my case obsessions) are literature (books are also great for decorating), cinema (I love going to the movies), theater (nothing more satisfying than a good performance in a beautiful theater-house), travel (if only I were rich, I’d travel the world), and TV series (the characters are your friends. Still mourning the end of Desperate Housewives, Arrested Development and Pushing Daisies). I have real friends as well and they’re the best! Although they’re not as punctual as I am, but then again, I’m annoyingly and obsessively punctual (gift idea: pretty notebooks and agendas).

I love baking and sharing my baked goods with loved ones. Since my boyfriend is an enthusiastic aspiring engineer, I’m also interested in sustainable energy and crazy inventions. Ideal morning: sleeping late, breakfast in bed, live music, and a sublime landscape for a view.

I will always be a Jersey girl at heart, although I reluctantly have traded my toes in the sand for a cowboy hat, relentless heat and scorpions. So much for a fair trade, huh? The weather is amazing, but I do miss the sights and sounds of the NJ/NY area. I am a psychologist, with 2 Master’s degrees and a Doctorate in Psychology. I am happily married to one of my best friends, whom I have been with for eleven years. Our son just celebrated his first birthday and we couldn’t be happier!

When I am not at work or trying to figure out what the coos, cries and/or gestures of my son are indicating, which in and of itself, tend to be a full-time job, I enjoy laughing (a lot more than what may be considered normal), researching various subjects/topics/interests, catching up on random television shows and running up the electric bill. All anyone really needs to know is: I love sports and Bon Jovi. My hair is styled high and I like to keep a tan.

I’m Jenny. I live in a picturesque but sleepy city in England. I work the typical 9-5 so I use blogging to satisfy my creative impulses. I am completely addicted to buying unnecessary baking supplies and attempting new recipes, and as a by-product, forcing anyone in the direct vicinity to try my cooking!

I was born with a pen in my hand. Well, not literally. But I have been writing for as long as I can remember. Currently, I am studying journalism at a lovely little university in my home state of Wisconsin (yes, I do know lots of people who grew up on dairy farms).

When I’m not working at one of my two jobs, editing for our campus newspaper or studying, I enjoy relaxing with my boyfriend and his two cats at our apartment. My favorite way to unwind after a crazy day is snuggling up on the couch with some hot chocolate and either a good book or an episode of Doctor Who.

Hi.  My name is Liz.  I am 25 years old.  I was born and raised in the city of Philadelphia.  I am very close to my family and friends.   I just recently graduated from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  I watch way too many TV shows, read way too many books, listen to a lot of music, write fanfiction and spend a lot of time using social media.  I fit the nerd type to the “T” because I wear glasses, prefer books over people, and fangirl over everything.  My top fangirl obsessions are: The Philadelphia Phillies (baseball team), Taylor Swift (the amazing musician) and Supernatural (TV Show). I get thrills from watching sports, going to concerts, and shopping.  I have a terrible fear of heights and flying, but I do want to travel the world someday.  I am very eager to broaden my horizons when it comes to writing.

Abigail Brown

Hi, my name is Abigail. I’m an 18 year-old student at Bournemouth University in the UK studying Multi-Media Journalism. My course is amazing as it covers all aspects of journalism: radio, television, features, news. I especially love the radio and magazine aspect of journalism. I enjoy shopping, reading, watching films and TV, seeing my friends and family.

I’m also a little bit of a beauty shopaholic and I take any opportunity to try out new beauty products. So I decided to create a blog that combines my interests of reading, beauty, fashion, films and opinions: http://abigailrobynbrown.wordpress.com/

A fashion enthusiast and eternal optimist, I will be your best friend but will probably try to reorganize your closet. I am a current journalism graduate student at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. I think that happiness is spent sipping a venti-iced coffee with soy while reading the September issue of Vogue. I die for anything Lauren Conrad and am enamored by her design aesthetic. I believe that flowers can brighten up any room. I’ve been known to indulge in a new pair of shoes when I know I shouldn’t. I know that snail mail is better than e-mail. I prefer peonies to roses and chocolate to vanilla. And above all I think you’re never fully dressed without a smile.

I am a senior at the University of Mississippi, double majoring in print journalism and spanish. I spend most of my time playing with my chocolate lab Deek. I love the outdoors and any physical activity. Sunshine makes me happy! I enjoy cooking and trying new foods. My dream is to write a book one day!

From a very young age, it was clear that TV would one day rule my life. My childhood heroes included Buffy Summers and the gang from Scooby Doo. Now that I’ve grown up some, my interests haven’t changed that much. I spend way too much time watching movies and TV shows, but I can also be found reading and writing. An aspiring screenwriter, I hope to one day be involved in a TV show that takes over people’s lives. Other interests of mine include travelling, theatre, Halloween, and the color blue.

Hello my name is Carly. I am a Californian girl gone country. After living most of my childhood in SoCal (Southern California) I moved to North Carolina where I learned that any ole country song can steal my heart. I ‘m a journalism major in the deep south with a love for travel. I’ve ungraciously come to realize I’m more of a travel snob then most (Oh, you haven’t been to the south of France?). I like good food a little too much, and am capricious at heart. Coke always beats Pepsi and Roll Tide.

I was born and raised in Westchester, NY, and have lived in the same house with my close-knit Italian family for all my life. I never strayed the east coast, let alone the U.S., until January 2013 when I set off for London, England to study abroad for the semester. It goes without saying that I’m having difficulty adjusting to life without my mom’s homemade pasta dinner every Sunday at 3pm. When I return from England, I’ll go back to studying Communications at Quinnipiac University – but this time, as a senior (ahh!!).

If you’re wondering what I did today, I probably ran and lifted at the gym, hunted down jewelry stores for a pair of too-heavy earrings, bought some tanning lotion, ate spoonfuls of peanut butter, and re-watched every episode of Sex & The City on HBO Go. I pull all of my writing material from real life situations via conversations with girlfriends and boyfriends, and love nothing more than speaking my mind about fitness, flirting, fashion, and fun. I’ve known that writing would be my thing ever since elementary school, when among all of the “Actresses” and “Models” in the 5th grade yearbook’s “What will you be when you grow up?” section, I declared that I would be a writer. Casey Gale
Daily Quirk Blogger
Hello! My name is Casey. During the day, I enjoy studying Journalism and American Studies at Rider University, watching The Young and the Restless, listening to music and drinking coffee. At night, I enjoy writing up a storm, hanging out with my cat, listening to more music and drinking more coffee.

The world of entertainment is very special to me. My thoughts always seem to revolve around music, movies, or television, for better or for worse. I cite discovering Green Day as one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I have been quoting Star Wars since I was three. And every morning, I wake up to the Doctor Who theme song. Popular culture is a big and delightful part of my life.

Other items on my long list of loves include anti-heroes, odd numbers, video games, and all things Disney. Above all, I just love to write. That is why I am so happy to be here!

I hail from Rockville, MD but am currently a Junior journalism major at High Point University in High Point, NC. I love living in North Carolina where y’all is a proper noun and sweet tea and sunshine are always nearby. My favorite thing to do is to laugh. Life is better when you have the ability to make the most lifeless thing seem absolutely fall over funny. I am pretty much your atypical sorority girl; I will take any excuse to throw a curl in my hair and parade around cocktail attire. I’m always in the mood to try out a new conditioner or beauty trick. I follow the beat of my very own, very loud drum and I love every minute of it.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia and since leaving, I’ve spent the majority of my life moving around quite a bit. I’ve lived everywhere from the empty deserts outside of Las Vegas to the city skies of New York. Never sitting still in one place for too long. Eventually, I emigrated to the UK in late 2012 to study English Literature at the University of Brighton. I love writing and hope to communicate what it means to be a human being.

My favorite movie is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and “I Believe I Can Fly,” by R Kelly is my heart song. I grew up in the quaint suburb of Katy, Texas. A true southern girl, I go by my first and middle name; Sara Katherine. I’m a little in love with Frank Sinatra, and a lot in love with my dream of being a writer with a faithful English Bulldog by my side. Presently, I live in Waco and go to Baylor University. I’m excitedly pursuing a double major in Journalism and Professional Writing.

Hello! I’m a native of Charleston, WV, and I’m a senior journalism student at West Virginia University. In college, I’ve worked for the school’s student-run, award-winning newspaper, The Daily Athenaeum, and just last year I was a news writer for U92, WVU’s student radio station. I’m a people- person, a film buff, a graphic-novel fan, and basically anything pop-culture. Thanks for reading!
