Like a lot of the globe, here in the UK spring is more a hope than the current season, with flurries of snow as late as April making winter feel endless. Over the weekend it seemed nice enough to open the windows and let some fresh air breeze through the apartment. Coupled with the light […]

I am not a big consumer of alcoholic beverages, so when I do choose to partake I want a tasty sipping drink (as opposed to the unpleasant experience of something you have throwback as quickly as possible or that burns your throat on the way down). I’m always on the lookout for yummy and refreshing cocktail recipes I can serve at […]

As much as I enjoy trying out new recipes and experimenting in the kitchen, molecular gastronomy is way beyond my capabilities. Making sure a souffle does not fall is about as technically complicated as my cooking gets and even that is not always a successful endeavor. As much as I would love to learn how […]

Who could say no to Baked Potato Soup? Not me. When I saw this recipe from Barefeet In The Kitchen, I was all about making some as quickly as possible! The recipe is shockingly simple to execute and incrediblly declicous to eat.

As I talked about over on my blog, I am well and truly throwing myself into the standard January diet. I think it’s going well, I know 2 weeks in is a little early to be claiming this but my snug work trousers are fitting more comfortably and I don’t feel too deprived. I think […]

I think most of us can agree that donuts are awesome. And what’s more awesome than a donut? How about a healthier donut that tastes just as good as it’s deep fried bad for you counterparts (two donuts would have also been a correct answer, but you catch my drift). I was really intrigued by […]

When I was growing up, my family didn’t really celebrate holidays. Still, my dad’s company provided all their employees with free turkeys around Thanksgiving, so it’s not like I never knew what it was like to have turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie. In fact, my mom’s recipe for pumpkin pie is absolutely the best – […]

In my family, Thanksgiving has always been an all day event starting early with a special breakfast of zucchini and eggs while everyone watches the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and ending late into the night with second and third servings of pie and tea. To say we serve several courses, is a bit on an […]

I love mexican food. Like anyone, going out for mexican is always fun. I just find it way better to make it yourself at your own home! It’s very easy and it does not break the budget at all. Let me show you how to host your own Fajita Night and have it be a […]

I have always loved the idea of Thanksgiving – something I have yet to have a chance to celebrate. Is there a more perfect tradition than making time to remember what you are thankful for, what makes your life that bit more special? One of my favourite parts of big celebration meals is the the plethora of ways you can use the leftovers. Meat pies are a brilliant way to make a meal out of scraps of roast meat, and the filling can be bulked out with leftover vegetables.

Since I am a sucker for getting magazines in the mail, Rachey Ray, is one of the few I get. Even if I do not ever make a recipe, it gives me hope that one day I can, if I wish. While flipping through and telling myself I will make that Broccoli Frittata or the […]

Ever since my friend made me her pumpkin risotto a fall evening about two years ago, I have always wanted to try for myself. I would never be able to create the risotto that she made for us because she put spices into the risotto that were not planned but ended up being spectacular! She […]

I love Halloween! It’s the perfect excuse to regress back to childhood; you get to dress up, watch films you know you shouldn’t because they’re scary and gorge yourself on more sweets than are good for you.

Fresh herbs are a necessity if you want to make a good meal, but the idea of keeping up with an outdoor garden to maintain them makes me want to grab for packaged and dry from the cabinet. Yes, I could run to the store and buy some fresh herbs, but you really can’t stock […]
